CHARLESTON, SC - With the eighth season of the hit television show American Idol in full swing, people all over the world have renewed dreams of letting their voices be heard in a vast number of arenas. With baseball season fast approaching, it seems only fitting to mesh those two into one.

Did you ever have the desire to perform the National Anthem prior to a home baseball game?

If you did, the Charleston RiverDogs want to hear you.

The Class-A affiliate of the New York Yankees will host live auditions for those wishing to perform the Star Spangled Banner on Tuesday, March 10, from 5-7 p.m. behind home plate at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

Vocalists and instrumentalists that have the interest in performing should show up at the ball park and be prepared to audition.

The RiverDogs play host to 70 home games during the 2009 season, which begins April 9 when the Rome Braves come to Riley Park for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. The RiverDogs have a minimum number of available opportunities for performing the National Anthem.

For additional information on the auditions, please contact Lavon Alls at (843) 723-7241.
