Richmond RiverDogs News Release
The Richmond RiverDogs are now 24-24-3 after going 1-2 last week. The âDogs are in third place in the Eastern Division eight points up on Elmira. Richmond trails Flint and Missouri by four in the wild card race. The âDogs are home again this week Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
THE WEEK AHEAD (ALL TIMES EASTERN)
Wednesday, February 9 vs. Danbury 7:35 PM GAME NOTES: The 12th of 17 meetings and the sixth of eight here. Richmond is 5-6 vs. Danbury, 3-2 at home. Mark Turner has 12 points vs. the Trashers. Jeff Daw and Mike Bayrack have 11 vs. Richmond. The Trashers have out-shot the âDogs by an average of 12.5 per game in the season series.
Friday, February 11 vs. Elmira 7:35 PM GAME NOTES: The 14th of 17 meetings and the seventh of eight here. The âDogs are 7-6 vs. the Jackals, 4-2 at the Coliseum. Ryan Prentice has 12 points vs. the Jackals. Jason Sessa has 23 vs. the âDogs. Jackals are 20-68 (29.4%) on the power play vs. Richmond.
Saturday, February 12 vs. Elmira 7:35 PM GAME NOTES: The 15th of 17 meetings and the eighth and final here. âDogs finish a six game homestand. They play 15 of their next 18 games on the road, including two visits to Elmira in March. Jackals finish a three game road trip. The Jackals last win in regulation came against Richmond January 7.

Wednesday, February 2 vs. Port Huron LOSS 8-4 GAME NOTES: The Beacons jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead and held off a Richmond rally with a three goal third period. David Hymovitz scored twice for Richmond. Trevor Edwards, David Beauregard, and Aaron Brand scored twice each for the Beacons. Port Huron was 2-3 on the power play.
Friday, February 4 vs. Flint WIN 6-4 GAME NOTES: The âDogs scored four straight goals after Flint took a 1-0 lead. David Hymovitz scored twice for Richmond. Dennis Vial had three points in his âDogs debut. Richmond was 3-8 on the power play. Brent Belecki picked up his first win for the âDogs.
Saturday, February 5 vs. Flint LOSS 3-2 GAME NOTES: Richmond out-shot Flint 34-17, including 13-4 in the first period but the Generals scored a pair of goals in the second period and held off a âDogs third period rally to win. Marco Emond made 32 saves for Flint. Brian Goudie had two assists for the âDogs.
DOG BITES: The 'Dogs are 1-2 on a six game homestand. Following that homestand Richmond plays 15 of 18 games on the road. The 17 shots allowed by the 'Dogs Saturday is a season low. The 'Dogs are 7 for their last 26 on the power play (27%) and 28 for their last 32 on the penalty kill (87.5%) over a seven game stretch. David Hymovitz has points in three straight games. Dennis Vial made his 'Dogs debut Friday with a three point game. 10 of the 19 'Dogs on the active roster have been added since the start of the season. Richmond has used 36 players this season. The 'Dogs used 38 last year. Derek Schutz returned to the lineup from IR Friday. Richmond has lost three of their last four after winning four out of five. Opponents have had 40 more power play chances than the 'Dogs this season. Hymovitz is eighth in the league in scoring. Trevor Senn, who remains on IR, is fourth in PIM. Nathan Grobins is tied for fifth in the league in shutouts. Kyle Sheen is tied for second in the league in game winning goals by a rookie and leads the league's rookies in penalty minutes. Luch Nasato is fifth in points by a defenseman.
