Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the United Hockey League, announced today that they have acquired defenseman Jason Jaworski from the Adirondack Frostbite in exchange for Greg Koehler.

Jaworski has played in 49 games for Adirondack this season collecting 7 goals, 21 assists for 28 points. Jaworski is Adirondacks second leading defensemen in goals, trailing Scott Drevitch by only 4 goals. Jason played both defense and right wing for two years with the University of Nebraska-Omaha finishing his career playing 114 games (8-22-30) and posting 199 PIM.

The addition of Jaworski is an effort by Coach Brost to fill the hole that was created on defense after the departure of Simon Poirier, and the eye injury to Alex Andreyev. Jaworski was considered to be by far the best Defensemen available, with excellent skating and puck handling skills. Coach Brost added "I have known Jason for the last few years, in Muskegon and Adirondack. I think he will add much needed depth to our team defense"

Koehler has played in 44 games for Elmira this season collecting 26 goals, 32 assists for 58 points. Koehler was leading the Jackals in scoring this season and was selected to participate in the 2005 UHL All-Star Classic. Koehler was also second on Elmira in power play goals this season with nine.
