Albany River Rats News Release

Albany N.Y. - The Albany River Rats will move back to the East Division in the Eastern Conference of the American Hockey League following the announcement of new conference and division alignment for the 2006-07 season. The announcement came from the AHL Board of Governors' Spring Meetings held in Springfield, Massachusetts. The River Rats will be joined by the Binghamton Senators, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Hershey Bears, Norfolk Admirals, Philadelphia Phantoms and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the East Division.

Each of the league's 27 member clubs will play an unbalanced 80-game schedule, and the Board will consider the regular-season schedule and Calder Cup Playoff format for 2006-07 at the league's Annual Meeting, scheduled for June 26-29 at Hilton Head Island, S.C.

The Albany River Rats, set to begin their 14th season as a member of the American Hockey League in October, are owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., and now serve as the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes.
