River Raiders Announce First Draft Pick In 2004 USBL Draft

Cedar Rapids, IA (April 13, 2004) The USBL held its 19th Annual Draft earlier this afternoon, which was done via teleconference call from the League Office and could be seen live over the USBL web site. The River Raiders had the first selection of the 2004 draft and chose R.T. Guinn, 6’10”, Forward from Baylor University, as the first ever draft pick for the Cedar Rapids River Raiders. At Baylor, Guinn averaged 8.9 points and 4.4 rebounds a game.

With this move the River Raiders make R.T. Guinn the second #1 USBL Draft pick to add to their roster this season with Bingo Merriex the 2003 #1 Draft pick joining the River Raiders shortly. Last season Merriex was drafted as the #1 pick by the Texas Rim Rockers in the 2003 USBL Draft.

Also, with picks in the second, third and fourth rounds the River Raiders chose: second round twenty second pick, Jackson Vroman, forward from Iowa State, third round thirty second pick Travon Bryant forward from the University of Missouri, and forth round forty second pick Odell Bradley, Guard from IUPUI.

The River Raiders will start its inaugural 30 game regular season (15 home games) on Friday April 16, 2004 at 7:15 vs. the Oklahoma Storm at the U.S. Cellular Center in downtown Cedar Rapids.
