Cedar Rapids, IA (August 5, 2004) The Cedar Rapids River Raiders lovable mascot "Bandit" will make an appearance on behalf of the River Raiders at half time of the Quad Cities Steamwheelers vs. Louisville Fire in the AFL2 National Conference quarterfinal game on Saturday August 7, 2004 at the MARK of the Quad Cities, with a 7:30pm start time.
The Steamwheelers earned the # 1 seed after defeating the Louisville Fire on July 31 (66-38), which also gives the Steamwheelers their fourth Midwest Division title in five years. The Steamwheelers are owned and managed by Jim Foster, who is also the founder and inventor of the game of Arena Football. Foster was born and raised in Iowa City and earned a B.G.S. degree from the University of Iowa in 1972 with a major in advertising and broadcast journalism. While at Iowa, he was a varsity letterman in track and active as an officer in several student organizations and government.
