
River Drivers Fall to Titans 9 to 5

Berlin River Drivers News Release
(Berlin, New Hampshire) The Berlin River Drivers hosted the Danbury Titans at the Notre Dame Arena in front of 629 fans. Phil Bronner's hat trick led the Titans to a 9 to 5 victory.
The first period saw a flurry of scoring by both teams. The home team found the back of the net first when Steven Gallo scored at 5:29 off assists from Brantley Sherwood and Terry Bradford. The River Drivers netted the second goal of the night when David Brancik scored at 7:31 off assists from Tyler Prendergast and Stathis Soumelidis. The visiting Titans went on a scoring streak putting 3 unanswered goals. Scoring for the Titans was Tyler Gjurich on assist from Phil Bronner on a power play. Phil Bronner netted a goal off assists from Zach Tatrn and Brett Liscomb. Tyler Gjurich scored his second of the night unassisted. The River Drivers would answer back when Jiri Pestuka scored off assists from Curtis Warren and Matias Simontaival at 18:39 to tie the game at 3. Pavel Kubena scored at 19:59 to give the home team a 4 to 3 lead after 1 period off assists from Tyler Predergast and Andre Niec.
Danbury would come out shooting in the second period and outshot Berlin 11 to 5 in the period. Titan's Aaron Atwell scored at 12:09 off assists from Phil Bronner and Brett Liscomb to tie the game up at 4.
The visitors dominated the third period adding 5 unanswered goals. Ryan Patsch started the period's scoring off assists from Kory Helowka and John Scorcia. Phil Bronner netted his second goal of the night off assiss from Tyler Gjurich and Jarrett Rush on the power play. John Scorcia would score off assists from Ryan Patsch and Tyler Gjurich. Scoring his third of the night and second of the period, Phil Bronner scored off assists from Frank Schumacher and Zach Tatrn. Zach Tatrn scored off assists from Jarrett Rush and Phil Bronner to give the Titans a 9 to 4 lead. River Drivers Matias Simontaival would score off assists from David Brancik and Brantley Sherwood.
River Drivers goaltender Valery Pronin faced 23 shots and recorded 16 saves in the loss. River Drivers backup goaltender Frankie McClendon would face 9 shots and record 7 saves after the switch. Titans goaltender Mike Pearless faced 11 shots and recorded 7 saves. Titans backup goaltender Austin Lefhowicz would face 12 shots and record 11 saves after the switch for the win.
The River Drivers are off tomorrow and travel to Danbury to square off against the Titans on Sunday. The Titans are home to face the Brewster Bulldogs tomorrow and host the River Drivers on Sunday.
The River Drivers next home game is scheduled for Saturday, January 23d against the Brewster Bulldogs starting at 7:00pm (EST).
