Tesoriero Hat Trick Leads Danville Over Brewster, 5-4

By: Tommy Pecoraro

Coming off a loss in Danbury the night prior, the 1st place Dashers made it a mission to come up victorious tonight in Brewster. It was not an easy task, and had it not been for a major penalty in the final period, they just might have lost to the Bulldogs, who led 3-2 prior to the major power play. The Dashers utilized it and followed through for a big victory over the Bulldogs, who have been playing very well in recent weeks.

The only goal of the 1st period came from Easton Oliver, his first FHL goal and the only goal of the game for almost half of the contest. In the 2nd period Danville struck, and twice in quick succession, from A.J. Tesoriero to take a 2-1 lead. The Bulldogs responded with a late goal off a beautiful feed from Johnson to Mike Zanella, and the captain delivered, deking out Anthony for the tying goal. In the 3rd period the Bulldogs would take the lead as John Scully, who was tied up going to the net by Brad Denney, somehow flipped the puck past Anthony for the go ahead goal. With a 3-2 lead halfway through the 3rd period, Easton Oliver was given a 5 minute major for spearing. Sitting in the box, he could only watch as Danville pounded away and scored twice, from Miles McCauley to tie the game, and A.J. Tesoriero to take the lead. After another strange goal off Semtner's back that was last touched by Andrew Harrison, the Bulldogs then rallied, down 5-3, while shorthanded. Dustin Jesseau scored with a snipe in the slot to make it 5-4, and then were given a late power play. However, the Dashers ended the comeback by holding on in the final seconds to win. Things got very heated at the end as both benches emptied, and Mike Zanella sent a statement by dropping the gloves with Andrew Harrison. The message? Be ready for Sunday.

For the Bulldogs, Easton Oliver and Mike Zannella had a goal and assist each, Dustin Jesseau and John Scully had a goal each, Alex Johnson had 2 assists, and Jeromy Semtner stopped 28 of 33 shots for the loss. For Danville, A.J. Tesoriero had 3 goals, Miles McCauley and Andrew Harrison had a goal each, and Gehrett Sargis had two assists. Matt Anthony stopped 28 of 32 shots for the win.

The Bulldogs will play tomorrow night in Danbury, as the Titans return from a 9-5 victory in Berlin, and the Dashers have tomorrow night off before returning to Brewster on Sunday for a rematch against the Bulldogs. Attendance was 127 for tonight's game.

Prowlers Beat Dayton 8-2, Win 5th in a Row

by DJ Palm

(Port Huron, MI) Eight different Prowlers would register in the goal column and the Demolition, Louie George-less (without Louie George) struggled and struggled early. Dayton drops their 7th game in a row and 9th straight to the Prowlers. 8-2.

Port Huron would open the scoring in the first period off of the stick of Scott Witmyer who scored the first two goals of the 1st frame although it looked to be Jack Callahan's goal Witmyer got credit for his first multi goal game this season. Brian Soskin would add another goal late in the first Period to let the Prowlers enjoy a 3 goal cushion going into the locker room. With three fights in last Saturday's game, there was not a single minute of penalties served by either team in the first period.

Middle frame the Prowlers really put the pedal to the medal and did not look back. The 2nd period would again feature Prowlers goals only, 4 in the 2nd and 7 unanswered goals from Matt Fuller, Joe Pace, Roger Tagoona and Ahmed Mahfouz consecutively would put the Prowlers up a touchdown and Di'Christofaro would remain a perfect 21 for 21 through 2 periods, he would finish making 27 stops on 29 Dayton attempts at the net.

Mark Rivera would continue his goal streak to 5 games and his 7th in 5 games put the Prowlers on the board for the 8th straight time in the game before the Demolition would finally register a goal. Jacques Lamoureux would corral a rebound off his goalie Brent Troyan that he took coast to coast. With some speed, a gorgeous curl and drag and a quick wrist shot. Lamoureux finally put the Demolition on the board followed shortly by Michael Lipari but it was way little too late and the Prowlers handle Dayton with an 8-2 final.

The Prowlers are 7-2-0-0 against Dayton this season, and they've outscored them 59-29. The two teams face off again tomorrow in Port Huron puck drops at 7:30. People can listen to live broadcasts of all Port Huron Prowler games on www.mrsn.us for audio only, and of course for full video and audio www.pointstreaks.com.
