
River Drivers Fall 8 - 1 to Prowlers

(Berlin, New Hampshire) Last night both teams squared off in Port Huron, Michigan where the Prowlers defeated the River Drivers for the first time this season. Tonight both teams concluded the home and home weekend series and it would go to the Prowlers 8 to 1. The River Drivers and Prowlers have now faced each other four times on the season, each now have two wins and two losses, one each at home and away.
The visitors picked up where they left off last night getting on the scoreboard first when Ahmed Mahfouz assisted by Justin Alonzo scored just over the 3 minute mark of the 1st period. Matias Simontaival would tie things up at one taking assists from Steven Gallo and Sean Poitras at the 9:35 mark of the period. Mahfouz would tally his second of the period from assists from Jared Hicks and Julian Fraser a minute later to give the visitors a 2 to 1 lead that held up for the remainder of the 1st period.
The 2d period was owned by the Prowlers as they put four unanswered goals on the board. Scoring for the visitors was Jack Callahan at 1:33 assists from Dustin Skinner and Robert Vanwysberghe. Mark Rivera at 5:14 assists from Robert Vanwysberghe and Jay Kenney. Dustin Skinner at 11:54 assists from Justin Alonzo and Andy DiCristofaro. Jay Kenney added an unassisted goal at 17:19. Prowlers' goaltender Andy DiCristofaro stood tall during the period stopping all 13 shots he faced.
Prowlers' Mark Rivera tallied his second goal of the night from an assist from Jack Callahan at 3:43 into the 3d period putting the Prowlers ahead 7 to 1. With under a minute to play Rivera would tally his third goal of the night on assists from Robert Vanwysberghe and Jay Kenney.
River Drivers' goaltender Bradley Barone faced 37 shots and registered 29 saves in the loss. Prowlers' goaltender Andy DiCristofaro faced 44 shots and registered 43 saves in the win.
The River Drivers next home game will be against the Brewster Bulldogs on Saturday, December 26th, game starts at 7:00pm. Fans are encouraged to wear their ugly holiday sweaters to the game.
