Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits went down 5-0 against the Lake County Captains and couldn't mount a sufficient comeback to suffer a 5-3 loss on Wednesday night. In the first meeting of the season between these two teams, Lake County jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning before Delvi Cid clobbered a three run homer in the fourth to push the lead to five.
The River Bandits tried to claw their way back into the game with most of the offensive firepower coming from Ryde Rodriguez. Rodriguez belted his fourth home run of the year to make it a 5-2 game. Rodriguez added a double to his hit total in the sixth. The only other Bandit to drive in a run was Luis Mateo. Mateo smacked an RBI double in the fifth, but that was the last time the Bandits would get on the scoreboard.
Bandit starter Jorge Rondon (3-5) only lasting 3.1 innings. He gave up five runs on four hits, walked five and only struck out one. Rondon was charged with his fifth loss of the season. Vidal Nuno (4-3) started the game for the Captains and picked up his fourth win of 2010. Nuno lasted six innings and gave up three runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out two. Preston Guilmet pitched the final inning and got his eighth save of the year.
The River Bandits and Captains continue their three game set tomorrow night at Modern Woodmen Park. First pitch is slated for 7:00 with the gates opening at 5:30. The Bandits will send right hander Shelby Miller (2-3) to the mound to face fellow righty Trey Haley (4-4). Legendary professional wrestler Jerry "The King" Lawler will make an appearance at the ballpark tomorrow. He will be available for autographs and pictures during the game. Tomorrow night is Thirst-day Thursday presented by Van's Bar and Grill. 16 oz. draft beers and 22 oz. sodas will be available for two dollars and the Klement's Racing Sausages will be on hand for a race around the Modern Woodmen Park warning track.
