Mississippi Surge News Release

Rivalry Week: The Mississippi Surge will face their newest Southern Professional Hockey League and in-state rival when the Mississippi RiverKings visit the Mississippi Coast Coliseum Friday at 7:05 p.m. The next night, the Surge will face a long time rival when the Louisiana IceGators visit the Coast Coliseum for a 7:05 game.

Good Opener: The Surge had just one game last week, and made the home opener a successful one, with a 3-0 win over Huntsville. It was the second straight win for the Surge.

Blankety Blank: The Surge limited Huntsville to just 26 shots on goal, and rookie goaltender Nick Eno turned all of them away, in posting the first shutout of his professional career.

Share The Fun: Three different players, Adam Krug, Nick Klaren and Colin Reddin, scored the goals for the Surge Saturday night. In four games, Mississippi has already had nine different players score at least one goal, and 13 players have at least one point.

Real Killers: The Surge's penalty killing unit was at the top of its game on Friday, killing off all seven Huntsville power plays. That included two different two-man disadvantages in the first period, one lasting 43 seconds and one lasting 46 seconds.

That Was Fast: It didn't take long for Reddin to make an impact with the Surge. He signed with the team earlier on Friday and then scored in the third period of his first game, to give the Surge its 3-0 lead.

Tickets Here: Season tickets for the 2011-12 Surge season are on sale now, with plans starting for less than $10 per game. For more information call the Surge at 228-287-PUCK (7825).
