Three singles and efficient base running helped lift the Riptide to a 2-0 victory over the Philadelphia Force in game two of the four game series. New England pitcher Erica Beach pitched a complete game, striking out seven while allowing only three hits, marking her fifth pitching victory of the season.
A base hit by Shanel Scott in the bottom of the third marked the first hit given up by Force pitcher Stacy Birk. Scott gave New England some run insurance in the bottom of the fifth. Lead off batter Cari Martin singled, but was called out for interfering with second baseman Emily Friedman as she fielded a grounder from Scott. Scott stole second, and Cooper walked putting two on for the Riptide.
