
Ice make most of hits to top Rockford

The Mid Michigan Ice are proving that you don't have to outhit your opponent to be victorious. The Ice won Wednesday night over the host Rockford Thunder 2-1, despite being outhit 6-3.
Becky Manson hit a decisive two out, two-run home run in the fourth and starting pitcher Amber Browning (2-0), aided by several great defensive plays, handled the rest. The Ice struggled at the plate until the heroic Manson homered for her second of the young season.
The Ice improve to 6-2, which totals their win count from last year. They will try for their franchise record seventh win tomorrow night at Rockford. Megan Brown is slated to start for the Ice who will oppose former US Olympian Amanda Freed in the circle. Game time is 7:35pm EST and can be heard live from the Rockford Thunder website (www.thunderprofastpitch.com).
