New England Riptide News Release
Akron, Ohio August 9, 2006 - The Riptide started the scoring early in the second. In the Riptide top half of the inning, KJ Kelley was walked to lead off the inning. Kristin Vesely sacrafice bunted her to second. Then Lisa Iancin answered with her first of two hits on the night, a triple over the head of speedy Racer centerfielder, Iyhia McMichael, scoring Kelley. Iancin was stranded at third however after Jen Scavone and Destiny Frankenstein struck out.
The Tide threatened again in the top of the third after back to back infield hits by Lindy Winkler and Jackie Pasquerella but was unable to get them across the plate.
All it took for the Racers was a big fourth. Oli Keohohou led off the inning with a single. After Emily Price pinch ran, Stephanie Pomes laid down a beautiful sacrafice bunt past the outstretched glove of Forest. Kristen Butler then blasted a three run home run over the left field fence. Lindy Winkler made a valiant attempt at the catch by knocking down the break away fence.
The Tide will take on the Racers, at Firestone Stadium at 7:05 Thursday, August 10th, 2006.
