
Fekete's defense cools the Heat

Allentown, Pennsylvania - The Philadelphia Force (10-23) took on the Arizona Heat (17-24) on Wednesday, August 9th at ECTB Stadium at Bicentennial Park. The Force snapped their seven game losing streak, defeating the Heat 2-0. Southpaw Jennifer Stewart had three strikeouts or the Force, improving to 5-9 on the season. Desiree Serrano took the loss for the Heat, dropping to (8-11).
The Force scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Carri Leto was hit by a pitch before Chelsea Spencer singled to center field, advancing to second base on the throw to third base. With runners on second and third with no outs, Serrano induced two ground outs before Force left fielder Lindsey Cameron hit a two out two RBI single to left field, giving the Force the 2-0 lead.
Fekete was the Force savior in the top of the seventh inning, making a spectacular diving catch for the first out of the inning and throwing the tying run out at home plate for the final out of the game.
In the top of the seventh inning, the Heat led off with a rocket to center field that was caught by the diving Force center fielder, Sarah Fekete. LaDonia Hughes hit a single to the shortstop and Catalina Morris was hit by a pitch on a 1-2 count, as Arizona threatened the Force shutout. With one out and two runners on base, Stewart struck out April Valdez before Nichole Thompson hit a ball up the middle that was bobbled by Spencer, scoring Hughes and cutting the Force lead in half. Toni Mascaranas then roped a single to center field, which was fielded by Fekete, who threw a dart home to Realmuto, who placed the tag on the sliding Morris to end the game.
The Force will take on the Heat in game two of the series on Thursday, August 10th at 7:05 PM.
