
Rio Grande Valley uses shootout to best Soo, 2-1

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees defeated the Soo Eagles in a shootout 2-1 (4-3 SO).
The shootout lasted for 12 attempts between the teams. Soo's shootout goals were scored by Dante Suffredini, Denver Pierce, and Ryan Urso. Rio Grande Valley also got shootout goals from Marcus Ericsson, Rob Marsanico, and Anthony Croston.
The Killer Bees stifled the Eagles' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 31 shots that Rio Grande Valley put on net surpassed the Killer Bees' average of 25.8 shots per game this season.
Rio Grande Valley was led by Will Clark, who tallied one goal. Clark scored 14:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Rio Grande Valley.
Soo's offense was clicking better than usual and put 25 shots on goal during the game, better than the 20.5 shots per game it averages.
The Eagles were led by Jacob McDowell, who scored the team's only goal. McDowell scored 17:08 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Urso assisted on the tally.
Olli Kalkaja rejected 24 shots on goal for the Killer Bees. Rio Grande Valley incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Colin Brennan recorded 29 saves for Soo. The Eagles incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
