Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release

Blaine, Minn. - The Wildcats could not handle the Austin Bruins potent offense, as they lost 5-1 to close out the North American Hockey League Showcase on Saturday.

Alfred Johansson scored his first career NAHL goal for Wichita Falls in the losing effort.

The Bruins opened the scoring in the first period on a nice goal by Jay Dickman. After receiving a pass from Cory Dunn, Dickman danced around Jake Townsend, cut in front and slid the puck under the right pad of Chase Munroe to make it 1-0.

In the second period, Austin scored three times in the first 7:47 of the period to take a 4-0 lead. First, Dickman scored off a feed in the slot for his second tally of the game. A few minutes later, he completed his hat- trick, deflecting Eli May's point shot past Chase Munroe. Guillaume Leclerc then picked up his third goal of the season, banking a shot off Munroe from behind the goal line to make it 4-0.

The period third saw Dickman pick up a fourth goal to make it 5-0 Austin, before Johansson picked up a late, consolation goal for Wichita Falls, sneaking a wrist shot from the point under the crossbar to make it 5-1. It was his first career goal for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats will be back in action next Saturday and Sunday when they travel to Hidalgo, Texas to take on the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 pm on Saturday, while Sunday's tilt is slated to begin at 4 pm. Both games can be found on FASThockey.com.
