Rio Grande Hands Cavalry First Home Loss

LAWTON, OKLA.- The Oklahoma Cavalry gave up a 17-point lead to chalk up its first home loss to the Rio Grande Valley Silverados, 120-115.

The Cavs controlled the floor through the first half, but came out a little lackluster on defense in the second half to allow the Silverados to get back in the game.

Leading by 17 at one point in the third quarter, the Cavs gave up the lead with 7:57 remaining in the fourth quarter when the Silverados took the lead 92-91.

Down by 8 points with 1:20 remaining in the contest, the Cavs turned up the defense to come within 1 point with 38 seconds left. However, the spirited rally was little too late, and the Silverados hung on to claim the win.

Daryan Selvy led the way for the Cavs with 38 points, 15 of those coming in the fourth quarter. Marvin Phillips earned another double-double scoring 25 points and grabbing 16 boards. Eddie Smith added 18 points.

Demorris Smith had another hot hand for the Silverados with 45 points on the night. Patrick Fields contributed an impressive feat on the offensive end as well with 31 points and 7 assists.

With the loss, the Cavs fall to 8-9 on the season. The Cavs will remain at home for their next two contests when they take on the Butte Daredevils Jan. 8-9 at the Great Plains Coliseum.
