RimRockers Tame the Flame

Arkansas RimRockers News Release
Little Rock, Arkansas - The Arkansas RimRockers (24-22) defeated the visiting Florida Flame (22-22) by a score of 101-84. Brian Jackson led the way for Arkansas with 24 points, seven rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.
With only 28 combined fouls committed, the game appeared to be simply friendly competition. The RimRockers, however, turned up the heat on the Flame, scorching them with 20 fast break points and putting away 60 points in the paint. The RimRockers finished the contest shooting 56.5 percent from the field, while the Flame were only 47.3 percent accurate.
After the first period, the Flame led 26-25. They jumped out to the early lead, defying the RimRockers defense. Bracey Wright finished the period leading with nine points. The RimRockers looked sluggish until Marcus Campbell came off the bench to score seven points and give Arkansas the momentum they needed to rally for a lead.
During the second period, Brian Jackson tied the game at 35, and the RimRockers took the lead for good on a powerful Myron Allen slam dunk. The RimRockers proceeded to score while holding off the Flame and ended the half leading 54-42.
The third period was just as chilly for the Flame, who trailed the RimRockers 79-66. The Rockers never let up and rolled into the final period with a comfortable lead. Florida made a final push in the fourth quarter, but the 15-point lead the RimRockers had established earlier in the night proved too difficult to overcome.
"I felt good about the way we played tonight," RimRockers head coach Andy Stoglin said. "We did a good job of covering our guys and getting back on defense. I'm more worried about tomorrow night. It's always tough to beat a team the second night."
The RimRockers held Bracey Wright, Florida's leading scorer, to 18 points; almost 4 points below his season average. Austin Nichols (19), George Leach (13) and Elton Brown all scored in double figures for the Flame, with Leach being the team's only double-double scorer.
Arkansas had 6 players to score in double digits, including 24 from Jackson. Olu Famutimi finished with 16, Marcus Campbell added 15, Kareem Reid and Clay Tucker each contributed 12 and Myron Allen had 10 points.
The RimRockers play next at Alltel Arena on April 2 in a Rematch against the Florida Flame. Tip-off is set for 6:00 with doors opening at 5:00 p.m.
