MVP: Austin Toros forward Marcus Fizer has been named the D-League 2005-06 MVP. In 35 games Fizer averaged 34.6 minutes, 22.7 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists.

SHIP IT TO ME: Marcus Fizer won't be on hand to pick up his MVP hardware at a scheduled presentation prior to Austin's game against Fort Worth on Sunday. The 6-8, 260-pound forward was signed to a 10-day contract by the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets within a couple of hours of the MVP announcement.

SERVING THE PURPOSE: Marcus Fizer's GATORADE Call-Up on Friday, the 16th this season, continues to highlight the D-League's role in developing talent for the NBA. Nineteen (19) NBA teams have also assigned 29 players to D-League affiliates in 2005-06.

THEY SAID IT: "Jawad had a great game, just getting off the plane ... but these guys are basketball players. This is what they do." ... Fayetteville coach Mike Brown said after Patriots newcomer Jawad Williams scored 16 points and grabbed four rebounds Friday against Albuquerque after just one practice with the team.

LONG DISTANCE: Almost half of Tulsa's Desmon Farmer's field goals this season have come from behind the three-point line. Averaging 16.3 ppg, Farmer has made 241 total field goals in 43 games, 102 from long distance.

GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN: Since returning from a foot injury that caused him to miss eight games from February 23-March 18, Bracey Wright (on assignment from the Timberwolves) has averaged 22.0 points, 7.3 assists, and 4.7 rebounds in the Flame's last three games.

JEFF AND JOEY: Florida coach Jeff Malone and Tulsa coach Joey Meyer go into their respective games today tied as the D-League's all-time winningest coaches, each with 124 regular season victories in five-year D-League coaching careers.
