
RimRockers President Otis Birdsong to take part in JA Economics for Success program

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., October 20- The Arkansas RimRockers President and General Manager Otis Birdsong will teach two sessions of Junior Achievement's "Economics for Success" program at the North Little Rock High School East Campus Friday at 10 a.m. Activities include group work, journaling, calculating and evaluating. Birdsong and Community Relations Director Emily Wade are teaching to 9th grade students.
"The opportunity to become apart of the JA Economics for Success was too great to pass up," Emily Wade, director of community relations, said. "The RimRockers want students to follow their dreams, but hope they are able to make sound decisions along the way to accomplish those dreams. For the RimRockers to volunteer in this type of setting allows us to facilitate those goals."
The JA Economics for Success explores personal finance and students' education and career options based on their skills, interests, and values. JA Economics for Success was purposefully and strategically developed to align with academic content area. This program's focus on reading, writing, and mathematics standards ensures relevance in all classrooms affected by high-stakes testing.
The NBA Development League includes the Arkansas RimRockers (Little Rock), Austin Toros (Texas), Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), Florida Flame (Ft. Myers), Fort Worth Flyers (Texas), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.), Tulsa 66ers (Okla.), as well as a team in Albuquerque (N.M.).
Designed to help grow the sport of basketball both domestically and internationally, the league also offers fun, family entertainment at affordable prices. The D-League is a source of on-court talent for the NBA's 30 teams and is a diverse human resources pool for the NBA and its teams by training employees in management, operations, public relations, sales and marketing positions.
