
RimRockers host Read to Achieve week

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., November 8- The Arkansas RimRockers will celebrate National Read to Achieve Week on Thursday, November 10 at Sylvan Hills elementary. Kareem Reid and Olu Famitimi will read to first graders and talk about the RimRockers' own Read to Achieve program at 9 a.m. The RimRockers dance team and mascot, "Slam Dunk," will be there to entertain. The children will have an opportunity to get autographs and talk to the players. Other events scheduled for the week include: Brandon Dean will read to Glenview Elementary on Wednesday, Chris Shumate will read to Belwood Elementary on Thursday and Pat Bradley will read to Western Hills Elementary on Friday.
"Read to Achieve week is such a big part of the NBA, WNBA and the D-League," Emily Wade, director of community relations, said. "The RimRockers hope to focus on the importance of mental preparedness as well as physical being. Reading is a great way to the mind going in the right direction."
