TULSA, Okla., November 8 - The Tulsa 66ers opened training camp for the 2005-06 NBA Developmental League season on Saturday, November 5 and will conduct their first Media Day/Read To Achieve Event this Wednesday, November 9 at Expo Square Pavilion Arena. The players' first Read To Achieve event will take place during Media Day with students from Lanier Elementary School.

Wednesday's Media Day/Read To Achieve events will begin at noon when the media is invited in for a brief lunch and at 1 p.m. the players will split up into groups for Reading Timeouts with the elementary students. The players will talk about the value of reading as well as have a little fun on the court. The students will dismiss at 2 p.m. when the Media Day activities will begin. All players will be available for media interviews throughout the Media Day activities that will conclude at 3.

Fourteen players are currently participating in the Tulsa 66ers training camp. The Tulsa 66ers' 2005 D-League Draft selections include guard and former Texas A&M star Bernard King (1st round), Desmon Farmer (3rd round), Otis George (4th round), Seamus Boxley (5th round), Will Conroy (6th round), Jerry Dupree (7th round), Cezary Trybanski (8th round), Paul Marigney (9th round), and Rasheim Wright (10th round).

The drafted players join the team's two allocated players (John Lucas and Jarred Merrill), one player picked from local tryouts (TU's Marcus Hill), and two returners from last season (Tony Kitchings and Cedric Suitt).

D-League rosters will be cut to 12 players on Thursday, November 10, with opening day rosters set on Thursday, November 17.

The Tulsa 66ers will face the Albuquerque Thunderbirds on Saturday, November 12 in an NBA Development League preseason game at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, N.M. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. MT. The regular season tips off on Friday, November 18 at 7 p.m. at the Expo Square Pavilion in Tulsa.
