Arkansas RimRockers News Release

Little Rock, AR -In a game that came down to the wire, the Arkansas RimRockers lost to the Tulsa 66ers 102-97, dropping them to 10-7 on the season.

"I thought we had the game under control up until half time, but Tulsa came back from the break fired up," Head Coach Joe Harge said. "All of a sudden, they were knocking down shots and we weren't answering with our own. It's very disappointing to blow a 12 point lead."

The first period of the game was uneventful, with each team putting up 22 points. Shawnson Johnson came off the RimRockers to make the most impact with a 6 point effort. In the second quarter, the RimRockers defense was able to hold the 66ers leading scorers, Desmond Farmer and Will Conroy, to 2 and 10 points respectively. Arkansas's biggest lead came with under 20 seconds to play when they led Tulsa by 10 points, but a strategic three-pointer by Tang Hamilton cut the lead to 7 points by the buzzer. Tulsa was only able to convert 32.5 percent of their field goals and the RimRockers ended the half leading 49-42.

The third quarter of the game was controlled entirely by Tulsa. The visitors emerged from the half outscoring the RimRockers 17-5 within the first minutes of the half. The RimRockers, led by Pape Sow's 29 points and 12 rebounds, were able to close the gap by the fourth quarter and came within 2 points of tying the ball game, but a pair of free-throws sunk by Otis George with only seconds left on the clock sealed the deal for Tulsa.

"Every time our guys stretched the lead to 10 or so points, Tulsa kept coming back. It was very frustrating to watch as we broke down defensively and they continued to make their shots. They would not go away," Harge said."

The 66ers were led by Desmon Farmer's 27 point effort, with Tang Hamilton (17), Cezary Trybanski (15), Torraye Braggs (14) and Will Conroy (10) all scoring in double digits. Offensively, the RimRockers out-played the 66ers, scoring 60 points in the paint, making 10 second chance points and offering up 18 fast break points while the 66ers only had 44 points in the paint, 4 second chance points and 17 fast break points. The RimRockers downfall were the 49 personal fouls they committed, allowing the 66ers to add 41 points to the final total.

Other RimRockers to score in double figures were Matt Walsh (16), Donta Smith (15), Kareem Reid (14) and Brian Jackson (10). Reid led the game with 9 assists Clay Tucker led with 3 steals.

The RimRockers travel to Fayetteville, NC for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Showcase and will face off against the Austin Toros Sunday the 15 at 10 a.m. central time.
