This Day in ABA History
Which person was an ABA official, then an ABA head coach, and then an ABA official again?
Joe Belmont. Belmont gave his job as an ABA official to become the coach of the 1969-70 Denver Rockets. After being fired by the Rockets during the 1970-71 campaign, Belmont got his job back as an ABA official (and even refereed games involving Denver).
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
