Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release
The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced they have signed import receiver Freddie Barnes and import running back Yvenson Bernard to the practice roster. Financial details of the signings were not released.
Barnes (6'0 - 215 lbs) signed as a free agent with the Chicago Bears in 2010 where he spent a portion of the season on their practice roster. The Bowling Green product holds the NCAA single season reception record with 155 (1,770 yards) in 2009. He also broke Randy Moss's single season Mid-American Conference yardage record.
Bernard (5'9 - 196 lbs) spent two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers before signing this past off-season with the Montreal Alouettes. The 25-year-old spent the first portion of the season on the Als injured list before being just recently released. In his two seasons in Winnipeg, the Oregon State product played in 17 games and tallied 58 carries for 358 yards and one touchdown.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders also announced that non-import receiver Obed Cetoute has been released from the roster.
