HAM 5 vs STJ 2

The IceCaps started strong but dropped the decision to the Hamilton Bulldogs at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton. Carl Klingberg and John Albert scored for St. John's, while goaltender Peter Budaj made 26 saves.

Fri., Dec. 19

STJ 4 vs HAM 2

Jason Jaffray recorded two goals and two assists and Ralfs Freibergs added his first two American Hockey League points as the IceCaps rallied to defeat the Bulldogs at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton.

Connor Hellebuyck earned the victory with a 19-save performance in the IceCaps' final game before the holiday break.

IceCaps on the move:

The St. John's IceCaps announced on Saturday they returned defenceman Ralfs Freibergs on loan to the Ontario Reign of the ECHL and have released defenceman Ryan Parent from his professional tryout contract. Freibergs, 23, played four games with the IceCaps since his recall on December 5th, notching two assists. The Riga, Latvia native has suited up in 20 games with the Reign this season, collecting two goals and an assist with four penalty minutes and a +7 rating. Parent, 27, was signed to a PTO on December 19th and appeared in one game for St. John's. The Saskatoon native has played four games with the Ontario Reign (ECHL) this season, collecting one assist. Last season, the blueliner played 26 games with the Norfolk Admirals (AHL), notching three assists and 26 penalty minutes to go along with four penalty minutes in five playoff games.
