Richmond Revolution News Release

RICHMOND, VA.: SportsQuest and the Richmond Revolution announced today that they have signed *Quarterback Rodney Landers* to a contract for the 2010 season. Landers spent the 2008 season at James Madison University where he led them to the number 1 ranking among FCS (Div 1-AA) schools, the number 1 seed in the FCS playoffs and a perfect 8-0 record in the Colonial Athletics Association.

During the 2008 season Landers won numerous awards including Offensive Player of the Year for the CAA and the Dudley Award, the award given to the top Divison 1 player in Virginia. Previous winners of this award include former NFL running back Tiki Barber and current NFL players HB Kevin Jones, DE Chris Long and DE Darryl Tapp. Landers was a finalist for the Walter Payton award, finishing second in the voting. The Payton award is given to the top player in the Football Championship Subdivision, an award won previously by QB Steve McNair, HB Brian Westbrook and QB Tony Romo. Landers was also named a 2nd team All American, 1st team All Virginia and 1st team All CAA. Landers finished his James Madison career as the school's all time 2nd leading rusher and 2nd in career rushing touchdowns. He finished 7th all time in passing yards and 4th in touchdown passes. As a dual threat through his career, Landers compiled over 6,700 yards from scrimmage which ranks 4th all time in James Madison's history.

The 2008 season was a memorable one for Landers as it saw him lead the Dukes to wins over 7 top 10 teams during the season. Landers finished eighth in the nation in rushing with 1,770 yards and 16 touchdowns, including 10 games of over 100 yards rushing and a James Madison record 206 yards against Massachusetts. He was equally effective throwing the ball, completing 63.3% of his passes for 1,534 yards and 21 touchdowns resulting in an efficiency rating of 170.73. His career ended with a loss to eventual championship runner up Montana, the team beat by the University of Richmond.

Landers also led the Dukes to the playoffs in 2007, his junior year, when they had an 8-4 record, losing to Appalachian State in the playoffs. It was during this season that Landers had a 63.4% completion percentage, throwing for 1,678 yards and 13 touchdowns while running for 1,273 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was named 1st team All State and 2nd team All CAA. For his career Landers totaled 3,288 yards passing, 35 touchdowns and 9 interceptions, 3,489 yards rushing and 31 touchdowns for an average of 6.5 yards per carry and 241 yards of offense per game over his last 2 seasons.

Landers sustained an injury during the FCS Championship semi-finals, that he has fully recovered from, an injury that did not allow him to participate in the NFL Combine. After going undrafted, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers invited him to tryout as a quarterback at their rookie mini-camp. He was considered a potential prospect for the team's wildcat formation as well as a corner back and special teams player.
