Richmond Revolution News Release
MIDLOTHIAN, VA.: The Richmond Revolution are heading out on the road this weekend for a rematch with the Bloomington Extreme in Bloomington, IL. The team enters the game in the midst of a three game losing streak, and is facing a tough rematch against the team that beat them solidly in the first game of the season, 44-6, back on February 27th.
The Extreme enter the game this weekend with the league's second best record at 5-1, only a half game behind both Sioux Falls and Colorado. The Bloomington offense currently ranks 10th in the league in scoring at 43.7 points per game, fourth in the league at 233.2 yards per game and seventh with 181.2 passing yards per game. The team is led by *QB Rocky Hinds*, one of the top quarterbacks in the IFL, who currently sits fourth in the league in passing yards with 951 and ninth in the league in touchdowns with 17. In the first game played against the Revolution, Hinds threw for 159 yards and three touchdowns, one each to Wide Receivers *Johnny Gray*, *James Walton*and *Glenn Johnson*. Those three receivers are all equally dangerous this season, as each has over 300 yards and five touchdowns this season. On the defensive side of the football the Extreme are third in the league in points allowed at 27.8 ppg, fourth in the league with 169 yards allowed per game and third in the league with 125.7 passing yards per game. They are led in tackles by *DB Marcus Winn*, who is fourth in the league with 44 tackles on the season, in addition to 2 interceptions. In the first game of the season *LB Winston Taylor* led the team with six tackles and two sacks, while *DL Sean Kelly* chipped in two sacks as well to go along with three tackles for loss. For the third straight week the Revolution will face a dynamic kick returner as well. Two weeks ago, in Green Bay, Revolution *K Justin Parker*effectively removed returner *BJ Hill*, who had won the two previous Special Teams Player of the Week awards. This week they face *Brandon Walker-Roby*, who is currently fifth in the league with 338 yards.
The Revolution will be led on the field this week by *QB Monte Purvis*, who has struggled mightily this season at quarterback, including in his only start this season at Bloomington. Purvis has only completed a third of his 30 passes this season, for 49 yards and three interceptions. His value has come on the ground this season as he has rushed for 108 yards including 93 yards in that first game. He has also been quite valuable on Special Teams as he leads the team with 220 yards. The Revolution feature two very talented wide receivers, *Josh Crawford* and *Scorpio Brown*. Crawford leads the team with 236 yards receiving and five touchdowns, while Brown has contributed two touchdowns in three games with the team. On defense, *DB Daninelle Derricott* leads the team with four interceptions, while injured *DB Andre Lipscomb* leads the team with 39 tackles in addition to three interceptions. Revolution K Justin Parker, playing in his first IFL season, has finally learned how to kick with the skinny goal posts. Each of the last three games Parker has made two kicks, many of them over 40 yards. His kicking ability has also been visible in the team's kickoffs, as he helped the Revolution stop the Express for a one point rouge last week, and consistently kicked the ball away from Hill in Green Bay.
Kickoff in Bloomington is scheduled for 7:07 pm (CST) on Saturday, April 16th. Revolution fans unable to attend the game can watch it live by clicking the "Watch Games Live" button on the Revolution Website. The Revolution are on a bye week next weekend, and then travel to Reading for a rematch with the Express on April 30. The team returns home the following week for the first of three straight home games on Saturday May 7th against the Chicago Slaughter.
