Richmond Raiders Announce 2013 Schedule

September 19, 2012 - Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL)
Richmond Raiders News Release

The Richmond Raiders have finalized their schedule for the 2013 season, which will feature familiar rivals and two new opponents. The action starts March 16 at the Richmond Coliseum against the Charlotte Speed. Additional highlights of the home schedule include the May 4 meeting with the Albany Panthers, in a rematch of the 2012 PIFL Championship Game, and the first ever visit to Richmond by the Lehigh Valley SteelHawks on April 13. The Speed and SteelHawks, newcomers to the PIFL this year, will both be home-and-home opponents of the Raiders, with return games in Lehigh Valley on April 27 and in Charlotte on June 1. Meetings with the Louisiana Swashbucklers on June 15, the Knoxville Nighthawks on March 23, and the Columbus Lions on May 25 round out the Raiders' home schedule.

The Raiders will hit the road for the first time on March 30 when they venture to Knoxville, and will have back-to-back road games on April 20 and 27 against the Lions and SteelHawks respectively. An off week will precede the longest road trip of the year, when the Raiders trek to Lake Charles, LA to take on the Swashbucklers. That game is in the middle of a three game, four week stretch in May during which the Raiders will face all three other playoff teams from last year. A short trip to Charlotte on June 1 and the only meeting of the year with the Alabama Hammers, in Huntsville on June 8, complete the road portion of the schedule.

For the second straight year, the Raiders will compete in the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) with a schedule of six home games and six road games, with playoffs to follow. The Raiders went undefeated at home in 2012 and finished the regular season in a first place tie atop the PIFL standings. After a hard fought win over Louisiana in the PIFL semifinals before a raucous Richmond Coliseum crowd, the Raiders were edged out by the Albany Panthers for the league championship.

The Raiders will play all their home games at the Richmond Coliseum. Season tickets start as low as $30, and are available on the Raiders' website, www.RichmondRaidersProFootball.com, or by calling 1-855-GO-RAIDERS or 804-780-0430. Individual game tickets, starting as low as $7, will go on sale at a later date.
