
RGV FC Looks to Earn a Playoff Spot as they Take on New Mexico United

EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (10-11-8; 38 pts.) welcome New Mexico United (11-9-10; 43 pts.) to H-E-B Park on Saturday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m. CST for the fourth and final matchup of the season between both teams. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a Toros soccer ball sponsored by Reliant Energy.
RGV FC: Last Saturday, RGV FC fell 1-0 to Colorado Springs Switchbacks on the road. The Toros were able to maintain a clean sheet throughout the match until the last minute when Thomas Amang scored the winning goal for Colorado. RGV totaled six shots with three on target while Colorado totaled three, with two on target. Rodrigo Lopez led the squad with three total shots. Both Emilio Ycaza and Erik Pimentel totaled four tackles and three clearances each for the night.
NM: In a mid-week matchup New Mexico United defeated San Antonio FC 4-2. New Mexico took the lead of the game in the 12th minute when Ilija Ilic scored a right footed shot from very close range to the center of the goal. San Antonio then took the lead with two goals in the 32nd and 35th minute off a penalty kick from Nathan Fogaça and left footed shot from Joaquin Varela, respectively. In the second half New Mexico fired back with three goals, one from Andre Tinari and two from Christopher Wehan to end the match 4-2 in favor of New Mexico. New Mexico totaled 18 shots, eight on target. Meanwhile San Antonio tallied 12 shots, five on target. Alex Tambakis had three saves and Wehan totaled nine shots, five on target.
