Wilmer Cabrera struck gold in Christian Pinzon, the shifty attacker has accounted for four goals in four matches since being recruited to the South Texas side and has complimented well with fellow forwards Frank Lopez, Jonas Fjeldberg and Ricky Ruiz. Lopez claimed the scoring leader title which stands at five goals for the Toros once more as his lone goal at the 71st minute helped the group open-up offensively in their 2-0 victory at El Paso to close out their lengthy road campaign.
Ricky Ruiz' five assists inch him closer to the assist leader title currently held by midfielder, Isidro Martinez, who has six assists on the year. Ruiz had another multi assist night on September 7 as he dished out two assists against El Paso, repeating his past performance at Las Vegas which also saw him distribute well and claim two assists on August 27, a match which saw the Rio Grande offense explode in a 5-0 thrashing.
A result at home against another higher ranking team in the Western conference will certainly help the Toros' case as they amp up their chase for a playoff spot.
