
Revolution Sign Seven Players

New Greensboro Revolution head football coach Mark Saunders has announced the signing of seven players to the team: wide receiver Braxton Williams, quarterback Jared Hall, offensive lineman Ian Kirwan, defensive back James Woodruff, offensive lineman Matthew Bennett, linebacker Kevin Jackson and defensive lineman Marcus Hood.
Williams (6-2, 205) played at Clemson from 1998-2001, earning significant playing time as a versatile linebacker and strong safety known for his tremendous athletic ability and a knack for making big plays. A Dudley High School graduate, Williams was named first-team academic All-ACC in 2000 while starting 11 of 12 games at outside linebacker, recording 70 tackles.
Hall (6-2, 198) most recently played at the University of North Carolina in 2004, seeing action in five games. Before his time in Chapel Hill, Hall starred at Ledford High School in Winston Salem, NC, where he earned numerous awards for his play, including co-offensive conference player of the year, all-county team, and all-county offensive player of the year. He was also a member of the GreensboroNews & Record All-Star Team.
Kirwan (6-1, 275) played in 30 career games at Guilford College, starting his final 12. In two seasons as a nose guard, he recorded 43 tackles, including five for a loss. Kirwan was named a third-team honoree of Don Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA Division III 2005 All-American Team. He was also named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference second team. In his senior season, Kirwan was moved to center to take advantage of his strength. He was also a two-time member of Guilford's Student-Athlete Honor Roll.
Woodruff (5-7, 190) was a starting defensive back at West Virginia University for two years and was known for being an excellent tackler and special teams player. He won the Mountaineers' Coaches Contribution Award in 2003. Bennett (6-4, 280) was a two-year starter for Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. He was a key contributor on teams that won the South Atlantic Conference in 2001 and 2002, as well as an NCAA playoff berth in 2004. Rounding out the seven signees are Kevin Jackson, a 6-1, 215-pounder who played at Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC and 6-2, 305-pound Marcus Hood, a former standout out at Greensboro's Dudley High School.
The seven new signees join previously announced players WR Priest Everhart, DB Thomas Daniels, RB/DB Ryan Wender and K P.J. Hance.
The Revolution's inaugural season opens Saturday, March 25 th at 7:30 PM versus West Palm Beach at the Greensboro Coliseum. Season ticket packages range from $35.00 to $210.00 for seven regular season home games. Seating location options include the "Battlefield," which includes the first two rows of on-field riser seating/standing area up against the sideline pads and the "Patriots" section which includes the first five rows of permanent seating. Sideline, end zone, club level and upper arena locations are also available. Season ticket buyers can save up to $35.00 off individual game ticket prices depending on seat location.
Individual ticket prices will range from $5.00 to $35.00 and will go on Saturday, March 3. Kids (ages 2-12) tickets are available for $5.00 in the available in the sideline, end zone, club and upper arena locations for all games!
