FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution II (3-1-2, 12 pts.) fell to Columbus Crew 2 (5-1-0, 15 pts.), 4-0, at Gillette Stadium on Sunday evening. The loss was New England's first of the season as Revolution II saw its five-game unbeaten streak ended. Goalkeeper Djordje Petrović made four saves in his club debut, while Brazilian forward Marcos Dias made his first professional start after debuting as a sub last week.

Columbus scored four times in the first half, with two goals coming from Noah Fuson in the 17th and 43rd minutes. New England's defense was resolute in the second half, but the two teams played to a scoreless stalemate in the final 45 minutes as Revolution II logged their first loss of the season.

Esmir Bajraktarevic returned to the starting lineup for his fourth appearance of the season after an April stint with the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team. Trevor Zwetsloot started in place of Sean O'Hearn at center back, and Ben Reveno made the start at right back.

New England returns to action on Sunday, May 14 as Revolution II hits the road to take on Toronto FC II at BMO Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. ET on MLSNEXTPro.com.

Goalkeeper Djordje Petrović made his New England debut and made four saves.

Forward Marcos Dias logged 63 minutes in his first professional start. The Brazilian made his senior pro debut with New England last week as a substitute against Inter Miami CF II.

Defender Pierre Cayet logged 90 minutes to eclipse the 2,000-minute mark for his Revolution II career.

Midfielder Ryan Lima logged two shots on goal and leads the team with 14 this season.

Defender Sean O'Hearn entered the game in the 46th minute to notch his 30th career appearance with New England's developmental team.

New England Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay

On the difference between the first and second half:

Peay: "I thought we were very poor with the ball in the first half. We were asking a lot of our players defensively, so when we had possession of the ball and we gave it away easily, it just required us to run even more. I thought in the second half, we did a better job of moving the ball, connecting passes, getting into the dangerous areas."

On the switch of Ben Reveno to outside back and Trevor Zwetsloot to center back:

Peay: "Yeah, we had wanted to look at Ben (Reveno) as a right back just to kind of see what it looked like, and obviously Trevor (Zwetsloot) has played center back for us, so we wanted to make those changes. Sean (O'Hearn) had a little bit of a knock, so he was coming back this week from an injury and thought maybe it was best to limit his minutes, and that was it."

On bringing in Sean O'Hearn and Jack Panayotou for Esmir Bajraktarevic and Noel Buck in the second half:

Peay: "Yeah, first we needed to make some changes because we weren't playing well. I thought both young players struggled on the day to make an impact and have any consistency so we thought it was important to make a change and bring in some guys who we felt could help us be more effective as a team."

On Ítalo's performance:

Peay: "Yeah, I thought he worked hard. I think he was tired at the end. He always provides pretty good service and I thought in the first half he put in a good ball to Ryan (Lima), but again, I thought defensively there was a couple of mistakes that he had made, but that's the whole group, to be honest, but I thought he worked hard."

On the lesson young players can learn from this type of game:

Peay: "I think the bottom line is every game is a challenge. You can't go into any game expecting it to be easy, so we have to make sure that we're mentally ready, physically ready, and we have to expect more out of ourselves every day so that our standard doesn't drop in games."

On the overall match and the team's performance:

Cayet: "I think in the first half, we didn't play as we should have, it started from the front, we didn't defend well, didn't make the tackles, and ultimately, defensively we forced the play a lot. We were trying to play where there wasn't space outside and we got countered a couple of times because as a back five, it's tough to break them down. So, it was tough. It was tough, the first half definitely, and then second half, we reacted pretty well I believe. We played our game, pressed up high on the field and played aggressively, which was much better, and we created a couple of chances, and we did considerable. So that was good, but if you want to win games, we can't allow a team to score four goals against us"

On the takeaways from match and how it can help the club after first loss of the season:

Cayet: "In a way, it's going to be good for us to realize that we're not undefeated anymore, and that tough games happen and make us better long term. So that's a game that we got to take away a lot of things that we didn't do correctly to be able to react the next game to be able to fix those mistakes."
