New England Revolution II News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution II announced its year-end roster moves following the end of the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season. Eight players remain under contract for the 2024 season on MLS NEXT Pro professional contracts entering the offseason.
After a record-setting season for the second team that saw Revolution II advance to the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference Final and finish fourth overall in the league table, the following eight players remain under contract for 2024: Jordan Adebayo-Smith, Jacob Akanyirige, Brandonn Bueno, Marcos Dias, Olger Escobar, Patrick Leal, Victor Souza, and Max Weinstein.
That list includes three Revolution Academy graduates in Bueno, Escobar, and Weinstein, all of whom rose within New England's pro player pathway from the youth ranks to the second team. Escobar, the 2022-23 UnitedHealthcare Revolution Academy Player of the Year, was named the MLS NEXT Under-17 MVP last season at the youth level, before helping the Under-19 team to its second consecutive MLS NEXT Cup Under-19 national championship.
Three teenage players who featured on the 2023 Revolution II roster will ascend to the club's MLS roster for the 2024 season on Homegrown Player contracts: forward Malcolm Fry (18), defender/midfielder Peyton Miller (15), and defender Santiago Suarez (18). Fry and Miller are both from the New England area, hailing from Groton, Mass. and Unionville, Conn., respectively.
Revolution II declined the contract options of Ben Awashie, Pierre Cayet, Nakye Greenidge-Duncan, Ítalo, Jake Rozhansky, and Weverton. Additionally, the contracts of Nico Campuzano, Noble Okello, and Colby Quiñones will expire on December 31, 2023. Those players could still potentially rejoin New England on new deals.
