Revolution Head North for Road Clash at CF Montreal

MONTREAL - The New England Revolution (9-5-2, 29 pts.) hit the road this weekend to face CF Montreal (4-10-3, 15 pts.) on Saturday, August 1 at Stade Saputo. Saturday night's match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Apple TV in English, Spanish, and French. New England returned to MLS play with a pair of home games last week. After a 0-0 draw last Wednesday against Toronto, the Revs returned to the win column with a 4-1 victory over Atlanta United FC on Saturday in front of a season-high 34,428 fans at Gillette Stadium. Brooklyn Raines, Dor Turgeman, and Carles Gil each recorded goal-and-assist performances, while Alhassan Yusuf notched two assists and Peyton Miller added his fourth goal of the season. For Raines, it marked his first MLS goal and assist.

Gil will rejoin the Revolution after a stellar performance in the 2026 MLS All-Star Game. The five-time All-Star earned a starting nod for the MLS selection and provided assists on a pair of first-half goals by Los Angeles FC forward Son Heung-Min en route to a 4-3 victory over the LIGA MX All-Stars. In his MLS career against CF Montreal, Gil owns one goal and nine assists, including four game-winning helpers.

Midfielders Matt Polster, Jackson Yueill, and Yusuf all added assists in last Saturday's victory, with Yusuf registering his first multi-assist game in MLS. Yueill and Polster each recorded the 20th assist of their MLS careers, with the former earning his first as a member of the Revolution. Polster, who started the last two matches at right back, enters Saturday's match 44 minutes shy of 20,000 minutes played in MLS.

While New England's 12 different goal scorers rank among the league's top five, the team's defensive record is equally impressive. With 19 goals conceded through 16 games, the Revolution are one of only four teams with fewer than 20 goals conceded this season. The team's second-half performances have been even stronger, with only six goals conceded after halftime, second fewest in MLS.

New England earned dominant shutout victories in its last two visits to Stade Saputo, taking a 5-0 win in 2024 followed by a 3-0 road victory last season. The latest road triumph in Montreal featured a brace from Revolution defender Ilay Feingold along with a goal from fellow outside back Peyton Miller. The Homegrown defender tallied again in the first meeting between the two sides this season, a 3-0 win for New England on April 4 at Gillette Stadium. The April encounter also featured a first MLS goal by Mamadou Fofana and a goal-and-assist performance from winger Luca Langoni. Langoni made his MLS debut against Montreal in 2024, contributing a goal and an assist to the five-goal outburst.

CF Montreal has been held scoreless through its first three games back following the World Cup break. The Canadian side played Toronto FC to a goalless draw followed by consecutive 1-0 defeats to Nashville SC and Inter Miami CF. In front of a sold-out Stade Saputo last Saturday night, Montreal was undone by a late penalty from Inter Miami's Luis Suarez. Former Revolution center back Brayan Ceballos, dealt to Montreal last Friday, could be in line for a debut with his new club when New England comes to town on Saturday night. Forward Prince Owusu leads the line for Montreal with a team-best nine goals this year.
