FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution will host its arch rival, the Chicago Fire, in Game 1 of the MLS Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Semifinal Series at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 in a match that will be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel.

The Eastern Conference Semifinal Series is a two-game, aggregate-goals series. Game 2 will be played at the Fire's Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill., on Saturday, Nov. 7. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET, with Fox Soccer Channel again carrying the match. FSC's broadcast coverage of both matches will begin 30 minutes before kickoff with special on-site, live pregame shows from the host stadium, followed by a 30-minute postgame show.

Tickets for the Revs' home playoff match start at $20 each and will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, Oct. 28, through Ticketmaster and the Revolution Ticket Office. Revolution Season Ticket Holders can purchase tickets at a discounted rate now by calling 1-877-GET-REVS, while Four-Pack buyers will have a presale window on Monday and Tuesday with tickets also offered at a discounted rate. The Revolution qualified for the 2009 MLS Cup Playoffs on Sunday night, with a dramatic 1-0 victory on the road against the Columbus Crew, the regular-season champion. After a series of results on Saturday night in other league action - including losses by Toronto FC, Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas, and a draw by D.C. United - the Revs were in position to qualify on Sunday with either a win or draw in one of the toughest venues for visiting teams. Jeff Larentowicz's 79th-minute free-kick goal sealed a 1-0 win for the Revs, sending them into the MLS Cup Playoffs for the eighth straight season.

The Revolution and Fire will meet in the MLS Cup Playoffs for the fifth straight season and for the seventh time in eight years. The Revs ended the Fire's season for three straight years - 2005, 2006 and 2007 - on their way to MLS Cup championship game appearances, while Chicago won the teams' series last year in 2008.

Should the teams be tied on total goals after Game 2 in Chicago, the teams will play a 30-minute mini-game immediately following the match to determine a winner. Should the teams still remain tied after the mini-game, penalty kicks will be used to determine who advances to the Eastern Conference Championship.

The Revs have advanced to the MLS Cup Playoffs for the 10th time in team history and for the eighth straight season overall. The team also boasts Boston's longest current playoff streak by one of its professional teams.

The full 2009 MLS Cup Playoffs schedule was also released this morning. The Columbus Crew claimed the top overall seed in the playoffs, and will host eighth-seeded Real Salt Lake. The LA Galaxy won the Western Conference and will face arch-rival Chivas USA. Seattle Sounders FC and Houston Dynamo compose the final playoff pairing.
