Revolution Beat Oxford City FC; 8-5

Cristian Mata scored three goals to help lead the Tulsa Revolution to an 8-5 win over Oxford City FC of Texas, Friday night at the Cox Business Center.

The Revolution opened the scoring in the first quarter with a goal by Sam Guernsey just 24-seconds into the match. Less than two minutes later Mata scored his first of the game, and with 7:03 remaining in the first quarter, Tulsa took a 3-0 lead on a goal by Bryant Scrapper, assisted by Mata.

Oxford City responded by scoring three unanswered goals and tied the game 3-3 before the end of the first quarter. Oxford City's goals came from Gonzalo Munoz, Alfie Robbens, and Lucas Totti.

Scoring for the Revolution in the second quarter were Michael Poneys, and Mata added a pair of goals. Tulsa did all the scoring in the second quarter and took a 6-3 lead into halftime.

The only goal in the third quarter came off the foot of Oxford City's Munoz, for his second goal of the game, cutting Tulsa's lead to two.

The Revolution picked up a pair of goals in the fourth quarter to seal the win as Oral Roberts University product Brian Beckford scored with 5:48 remaining in the quarter, followed by Scrapper's second goal of the game.

With 21-seconds remaining in the game, Oxford City's David Parente scored on a free kick. It was Parente's first goal against his former team. Parente's rights were sold by the Revolution to Oxford City during the off season.

Tulsa will be home again Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7:05 p.m. to host the Dallas Sidekicks at the Cox Business Center.
