Revised NBDL TV Schedule
September 26, 2002 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
NEW YORK, N.Y. (July 17, 2002) â The National Basketball Development League and ESPN have released the broadcast schedule for the NBDL's second season. Coverage will feature 19 regular-season games broadcast on ESPN and ESPN2.
Regular weekly coverage will begin on November 21 and continue throughout the regular season and playoffs. All games will be aired on a tape-delay basis.
During the inaugural season, the NBDL and ESPN teamed up to bring fans innovative coverage of the NBA's minor league, including cameras in the huddles and locker rooms, full-access to players and coaches, and live conversation with sideline reporters during the game.
The Asheville Altitude, Columbus Riverdragons, and Greenville Groove will each be featured in four games (Asheville and Columbus will play two at home, Greenville will play three at home); the Huntsville Flight, Mobile Revelers, North Charleston Lowgators and Roanoke Dazzle will each be featured in five games (Mobile and Roanoke will host two televised games at home, and Huntsville and North Charleston will each have three televised home games) and the Fayetteville Patriots will be featured in six telecasts (they will host three televised games).
The NBDL, the NBA's minor league, includes the Fayetteville Patriots (N..C.), North Charleston Lowgators (S.C.), Huntsville Flight (Ala.), Mobile Revelers (Ala.), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.), Columbus Riverdragons (Ga.), Greenville Groove (S.C.), and Asheville Altitude (N.C.). The league offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA's umbrella. Ten NBDL players, 3 NBDL coaches and three NBDL referees have been called up to the NBA since November 2001.
Designed to help grow the sport of basketball both domestically and internationally, the NBDL serves as a source of on-court talent for the NBA's 29 teams and as a diverse human resources pool for the NBA and its teams by training employees in management, operations, public relations, sales and marketing positions in each NBDL city.
