Retro Night This Saturday at Ice Game

March 5, 2003 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Indianapolis Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN- The Indianapolis Ice is thrilled to present "Retro Night" this Saturday when the team hosts the Oklahoma City Blazers at 7:00 p.m. from the Pepsi Coliseum. The night will be one of retro proportions as the team is bringing back a taste of the eighties with a plethora of events for the fans in attendance.

To add muscle to the line-up, the Ice has reeled in former Mr. Universe and the original Incredible Hulk, Lou Ferrigno. Ferrigno was the seven foot, green-skinned, raging creature with enormous strength that was dubbed "The Incredible Hulk," a show that aired on CBS from 1977 to 1982. Ferrigno, who currently has a recurring role in the t.v. series "The King of Queens" will be on hand to keep the Blazers in line, participate in several on-ice activities and sign autographs.

To add zip to the line-up, the Ice has retained the services of KISS tribute band, KIST. The high-energy quartet reminds many of the original cast of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss and will perform such classic hits like "Detroit Rock City" and "Rock and Roll All Nite" in a special post-game concert. And yes, the Blazers will be spooked as the foursome will be in full face paint and attire. In addition, a $2 discount will be offered to those fans dressed as their favorite member of KISS.

To celebrate another golden moment in the team's 15-year history, the Ice will be wearing the "ice man" jerseys the team donned during the 1988-1994 years of the International Hockey League. Alumni such as Dominik Hasek, Jimmy Waite and Bruce Cassidy wore the ol' black, silver and white which was the sweater also worn during the team's 1990 Turner Cup Championship run.

Not to be forgotten on this "retro" evening will be a competition featuring fans with mall hair or mullet cuts. Those fans who've used more Aqua-Net than the law will allow or sport the business in the front, party in the back look could be chosen to compete in a special on-ice contest.

Tickets are as low as $10 for the game and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations including select Marsh Supermarkets, Karma Records, select L.S. Ayers and the Pepsi Coliseum and Conseco Fieldhouse box offices, or by calling 239-5151 or online at ticketmaster.com.
