Dayton Silverbacks News Release

Miami Valley Silverbacks coach Carl Allen said he saw a lot of positives from their tough 40-37 loss to Kalamazoo last Friday at Rapid Fire Field at Hobart Arena in Troy.

Wednesday morning, the Continental Indoor Football League also saw some positives. Especially the Herculean play of defensive back Chris Respress. Respress was named the CIFL Defensive Player of the Week, becoming just the second Silverback to earn league honors this season. The former standout at Defiance College is also the first Defensive Player of the Week for the Silverbacks with Mark Bly gathering the Offensive award earlier in the season.

Against Kalamazoo, Respress recorded eight solo tackles, one assist, one tackle-for-loss, broke up two passes, picked two passes off and forced a fumble at the goalline which teammate BJ Paulus returned 49-yards for a score.

The Silverbacks close out the home portion of their regular season Friday night at 7:30 against Steubenville in a game which will feature a kickoff return by Troy Daily News executive editor David Fong. Tickets are still on sale at the Hobart Arena box office or online at www.silverbacksfootball.com.
