The Rochester Knighthawks surprised a lot of people tonight in their 15-14 loss to the Georgia Swarm. With six new players in the lineup, Rochester got stronger as the game progressed and came within one goal of knocking off the second-place Swarm.

In its first home game in three weeks, Rochester erased two five-goal deficits and pulled even twice in the fourth quarter. A trio of newcomers fueled the Knighthawks' comeback bid. Chris Boushy, who entered the game with 14 points in eight games, exploded for a career-high seven goals and two assists in his Rochester debut. It was his goal just 11 seconds into the final frame that tied the contest at 13.

"It was an amazing atmosphere tonight in the second half, and that really motivated me to produce," said the 21-year-old Boushy. "I touched the ball a lot today, and it was amazing to see veteran players have such a trust in me, a rookie.

"'Jammer' [Cody Jamieson] told me before the game to let the ball fly and trust my instincts, and that's what I did. I am happy it worked out, and I'm excited to see what this team can do. A lot of people in the room want to make a statement and prove people wrong. I am happy to be a part of that mission."

Boushy scored two goals in each of the first three quarters as the Knighthawks kept coming back. Ryan Benesch, Dawson Theede and Mike Triolo, who were also making their Rochester debuts, all finished with one goal and one assist. For Theede and Triolo, and Cameron Simpson, the game was also their professional debuts.

"This team is something else," said Triolo. "That fact that I got the call and got to come out here with the guys was something special."

Jake Withers had a night to remember as well, finishing one faceoff win shy of tying the league single-game record. Withers won 29 of 32 draws and scored his first goal of the season to tie the game at 14 at 1:43 of the fourth.

"The boys battled hard tonight," he said. "We showed tenacity and that 'never quit attitude' we preach week in and week out. Obviously, we would have liked a better outcome, but it was a big step forward for the guys. I am looking forward to getting back in the win column tomorrow."

The Knighthawks (2-9) will complete their two-game in two-night stretch on Saturday, March 16, when they battle the Toronto Rock (7-3) at 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Arena. The contest is the first of two between the longtime East Division rivals. The game has playoff implications for both teams as the Rock are fighting for first place in the East Division, while the Knighthawks are in the hunt for the division's fourth and final postseason spot.
