Republic FC's Jack Gurr Earns Second Selection to USL Championship Team of the Week

Today, USL Championship announced that Republic FC defender Jack Gurr has been named to the Week 7 Team of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 2-0 road win over Orange County SC. Gurr assisted the club's second goal of the evening, helping the Indomitable Club extend its season-opening undefeated streak to seven matches and claim sole possession of the top spot in the Western Conference.
After Trevor Amann netted Republic FC's fastest goal ever - just 15 seconds into the match -Gurr skillfully set up another historic goal later in the half. On the right flank with the ball at his feet, the Englishman first sent a pass to Rodrigo Lopez through the legs of the Orange County defender before receiving the ball back from Lopez for a long cross to fellow defender Aldair Sanchez on the back post. Sanchez volleyed the ball over the goalkeeper for his first professional goal and Gurr's second assist of the 2024 campaign.
Gurr finished the night with a team-best seven duels won and three tackles won. Through seven weeks of league play, he leads Republic FC with 12 chances created and has the top mark in all of USL Championship with 11 successful crosses from open play.
This is Gurr's second selection to Team of the Week this year and the sixth of his career. Republic FC has had a player named to the weekly top squad seven times in as many weeks.
Republic FC returns home this Saturday, hosting Eastern Conference side Loudoun United FC at Heart Health Park. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. PT and tickets are available now at SacRepublicFC.com/Tickets. The match will also be broadcast live on FOX40 and Antenna TV 40.2, as well as streaming on FOX40.com, through the FOX40 News mobile app, and on CBS Sports Golazo Network.
Tickets are also on sale for the club's May 7 Open Cup match against Monterey Bay F.C. Republic FC has participated in every tournament played since the club's inaugural season in 2014 and has made Heart Health Park a difficult environment for Open Cup foes, claiming 17 all-time wins.
