Sacramento Republic FC News Release
Sacramento Republic FC joins forces with PARK, a social impact football brand based in Australia, to show how football can create change, tackle global inequalities and level the playing field. PARK's initiatives include creating the world's first carbon negative ball and its donation program - Pass-a-ball Project - that provides a new ball for every one purchased, have been recognized by the soccer community around the globe. To date, over 10,000 balls have been passed in over 36 countries. Aligned with the people and planet initiatives, PARK's striking design and unique blend of positive messages and empowering every player around the world create a perfect partnership with Republic FC.
And now the Pass-a-ball Project comes to Sacramento. Republic FC fans can pick up the ball that is changing the world, emblazoned with art that represents the Indomitable Club. Designed for a daily kick, PARK's footballs range from size 3-5, and futsal for every skill level. And with each ball purchased, a Sacramento non-profit focused on helping young people will receive a brand new ball to help kids sharpen their skills and fall in love with the game.
During the opening of the Del Paso Heights Sports Complex, Republic FC hosted a clinic for 40 area youth form North Sacramento, with each receiving a brand new PARK futsal ball, with the ideal that football is for everyone - and can be played anywhere at anytime. With the new courts, and new equipment, the Del Paso Sports Complex will help bring new life to North Sacramento, spark economic activity and use football to inspire additional investment and change in the community.
"PARK is thrilled to partner with Republic FC for this collaboration," said Sam Davy, PARK Founder and CEO. "Through this new partnership, we'll be able to give so many kids the opportunity to play, whether it's their first time touching a ball or they're a seasoned pro. We've seen the great things that Republic FC has done in the Sacramento community, and we can't wait to see how much that impact will grow through the Pass-a-ball Project."
"We already know that there are Indomitable Fans around the world, but this partnership will elevate our club and mission in a different way throughout the world," said Republic FC Director of Community Investment Kevin Burdick. "Through this new relationship with PARK, our fans and supporters now have a way in which they can be a part of a worldwide movement and create immediate impact. We hope this partnership acts as a conversation starter around worldwide inequities and inspires people to make a difference as well."
Beyond the PARK x SRFC futsal ball, the capsule features stunning items featuring bold designs that are the perfect gift for the footballer that believes our game can change the world. Each item has been exclusively created for this collection - making it a perfect addition to fans' rotation of gameday swag or everyday wear. In these designs, each element has a purpose. The number 31 pays tribute to Article 31 of the United Nations' Convention on the Rights of the Child, which guarantees children the right to participate in recreational activities; and the eye-PARK's icon-is for the advocates and believes who keep their eye on the future and choose to do better to create change.
Not only does this capsule look and feel different than anything the club has ever done before, but it's eco-friendly too. In alignment with PARK's "For Planet" pillar, the futsal balls are carbon negative - with each ball produced REMOVING five kilograms of carbon dioxide (or CO2) from the environment. Additionally, the flag is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles.
