Republic FC Academy to Host Open Talent Identification Sessions for 2021-2022 MLS NEXT Season
Sacramento, Calif - Republic FC's Academy will host an opportunity for elite youth soccer players to earn a spot in the region's only youth development program competing in the country's premier youth soccer platform, MLS NEXT.
Over two weekends, the Academy will host tryouts across four different age groups - U14, U15, U17, and U19 - for youth players aspiring to play at the college or professional level. The sessions will be held Republic FC's Academy home fields, the Mather Sports Complex - 3755 Schriever Ave., Mather, CA 95655.
"Our Talent Identification sessions are a great opportunity to ensure we are not missing any high-potential players within our region," said Republic FC Academy Director and Head Coach Dennis Sanchez. "Along with the local club support, our staff have done a tremendous job strengthening the Academy this season during a unique year. It is imperative that we continue to create the best internal environment within our Academy and challenge our players to be their best each day."
On Friday, May 14 and Sunday, May 16, players born in 2008 (U14) & 2007 (U15) will have an opportunity to be evaluated by Republic FC Academy coaches and first team technical staff. Sessions for layers born in 2005/2006 (U17) & 2003/2004 (U19) will take place on Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6. Parents can register interested players at SacRepublicFC.com/TalentID. The fee to register is $100 per player.
Republic FC's Academy competes in MLS NEXT, the elite youth development program with a direct pipeline to compete in the top-flight of American soccer. Republic FC has a strong record of supporting youth player development, with three members of its first team rising to the professional ranks - Hayden Sargis, Mario Penagos, Rafael Jauregui - after playing for the club's academy.
Five current academy players have joined the First Team for the 2021 season and can gain valuable experience competing against professionals through USL Academy contracts. Since the Academy's inception in 2015, 11 players have signed professional contracts and 42 players moved into Division I college soccer programs. Earlier this year, Academy member Nabi Kibunguchy was selected 18thoverall in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft after playing four years at UC Davis.
