Reno Silver Sox News Release

(Reno, NV. May 11, 2007) The Reno Silver Sox, defending champions of the professional Golden Baseball League, announced today that open tryouts will be held on May 20th at Peccole Park on the University of Nevada Reno campus as the team seeks pro players to finalize their spring training roster.

Silver Sox Manager Les Lancaster (7 year major league career) will evaluate tryout attendees and select players to fill open spots on the Reno roster. Contracts will be offered at the end of the day.

The Silver Sox were one of the strongest team in independent pro baseball last season as they won the first half championship in their inaugural season in the GBL and went on to defeat the Fullerton Flyers in the GBL Championship Series at the end of the season. Nine players from the 2006 Silver Sox were acquired by major league organizations, the most players signed from an independent pro team in 2006. These are open tryouts, but players should have collegiate or pro experience to increase their chances of being selected.

Pre-registration is now open and can be done on the GBL or Silver Sox website (www.goldenbaseball.com) or by calling the Reno Silver Sox front office at 775-348-7769. Interested persons may also register on May 20th at Peccole Park at 8am.
