Reno 1868 FC News Release
RENO, Nev. - Reno 1868 FC is travelling to Oklahoma this weekend to take on Tulsa Roughnecks FC in the final match of the 2019 USL championship regular season. Reno is looking to break and tie several club and league records, as well as clinch the second seed in the western conference.
Reno enters the match with a 17-10-6 record, good for 57 points. Last week's 2-0 win over Las Vegas Lights FC was the 50th in club history, making Reno just the second USL club ever to win 50 matches within their first three seasons. FC Cincinnati currently holds the record with 51 wins, a record that could be tied with an 1868 FC win on Saturday.
A win would be the 18th on the season for Reno, breaking a club record for the most wins in a single season. Reno won 16 last season and 17 in the inaugural 2017 campaign. A win bring Reno's point total to 60, breaking another club record and earning a top two spot in the conference for the first time in club history. Reno has finished third, but never in the top two.
Tulsa enters the match in 16th place in the western conference, eliminated from playoff contention but is coming off of a big 2-1 home win over New Mexico last weekend. Tulsa is 2-2-1 in their last five, with both wins coming at home. On September 25, Tulsa topped San Antonio 4-3. The Roughnecks are 6-7-3 at home this season, while Reno enters 9-5-2 on the road.
Reno has never lost to Tulsa, going 3-0-2 including 1-0-1 at Tulsa. This season, Reno and Tulsa drew 2-2 in May at Greater Nevada Field. Both Reno goals came from Corey Hertzog, his first goals of the season. Since then, Hertzog has gone on to set career bests in goals (16) and assists (6) this season.
Whether Reno finishes as the second seed or the third seed, the boys in blue will be playing a home playoff match on October 26 at 5:15. The only thing left to determine is which opponent will be making the trip to Reno.
The match will be live streamed on ESPN+ with a 1:00 p.m. PT kickoff from ONEOK Field in Tulsa.
