Ottawa Renegades News Release

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Renegades Football Club announced Tuesday that the "Mardi Gras" in-game stadium promotion has been cancelled for the final five home games of the 2005 season.

"Mardi Gras is - and was always intended to be - a fun, in-game promotion to target the 18-34 age demographic and for our fans to enjoy themselves at Frank Clair Stadium. Based on what we saw in our last home game (Aug. 11 vs Saskatchewan), the promotion helped fill the upper south section to near capacity," said Lonie Glieberman, president of the Renegades football club. "There were concerns, though, from the City of Ottawa and some of our fans about Mardi Gras. We have taken these all into consideration, weighed the pros and cons, and decided that this specific promotion will end.

"Ultimately our fans are a priority and we want to offer a fun, enjoyable experience for everyone at each home game," continued Glieberman. "We are listening and responding to what our supporters and partners want and have asked for."

The Renegades have a pair of home games remaining in September, two more in October and the finale of the regular season schedule on Nov. 5 against the defending Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts.

Ottawa returns to action on Friday, September 2 against the Montreal Alouettes at Percival Molson Stadium. The Renegades return to play on their home turf on Thursday, September 8 for a Week 11 affair against the B.C. Lions at Frank Clair Stadium. Tickets are available either at the Renegades ticket office (1015 Bank Street), on the Internet (http://www.capitaltickets.ca), by phone (613.599.3267 or 877.788.3267), any Sports Experts location in the Ottawa and Gatineau regions as well as the Corel Centre Box Office in Kanata.
