Raleigh Renegades News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the name of the new expansion professional basketball team in Raleigh-Durham has been changed to the Raleigh Renegades and that the team will be owned by Capital Sports Group, LLC. Jeff Burns has been named General Manager; Phil Spence will remain as Head Coach and Asst. General Manager. According to Joe Newman, "We are very pleased to have this organization as part of the ABA and we know that they will do an outstanding job. Both Jeff's and Phil's backgrounds are filled with success and we see no reason why their ABA efforts will be any different."

Burns added, "The triangle area is ready for professional basketball. This season will showcase professional basketball with regional talent from the ACC, CIAA, MEAC and other college basketball conferences. We plan to bring fast paced basketball to the Triangle. We plan a lot of activities for kids in conjunction with our home games. Each home game will have a different theme. We encourage church groups and other not-for-profit organizations to contact our front office for future opportunities. We will enforce an open door policy to our general public. Regular and season ticket prices will be announced soon.
