Renegades Grind out Win over Brahmas

The Arlington Renegades (3-2) picked up their first road victory of the season, 12-10, over the San Antonio Brahmas (1-4) on Sunday at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The game was played in front of 13,274 fans.

Arlington kicker, Taylor Russolino, was two-for-two in the first half making both 43 and 25-yard field goals to cut the deficit 10-6. RB De'Veon Smith scored the first rushing touchdown of the contest off a 98-yard Arlington drive, the most by the team this season, to give the Renegades the lead, 12-10, headed into the fourth quarter.

The Renegades defense kept the Brahmas scoreless in the second half and also earned a takeaway for a fifth straight game as DB Joe Powell picked off San Antonio QB Reid Stinett in the third. On offense, Arlington turned the ball over once, an interception by QB Kyle Sloter. He finished 14-for-26 for 148 yards.

Arlington returns home to Choctaw Stadium next weekend to host San Antonio on Sunday, March 26. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

POSTGAME NOTES

The Renegades scored off a 98-yard drive, the longest by the team this season.

RB De'Veon Smith has scored back-to-back game rushing touchdowns, last weekend vs. St. Louis and tonight vs. San Antonio.

WR Brandon Arconado was the Renegades' leading receiver today, catching 3 passes (including one highlight-reel grab) for 40 yards.

K Taylor Russolino was perfect on field goals tonight, 2-0.

DB Joe Powell has caught back-to-back interceptions in the past two games (33-yard interception return vs. St. Louis and 1-yard vs. San Antonio).

The Arlington defense has forced a turnover in all five games played this season.

Bob Stoops improves to 5-5 all time as an XFL coach: 2-3 in 2020 and 3-2 in 2023.

The Renegades (3-2) remain in 2nd place in the XFL South division, trailing Houston (4-1) and ahead of San Antonio (1-4) and Orlando (0-5).
